Yunus government 88 cases accepted
Bangladesh has confirmed 88 cases of communal violence targeting minorities, mainly Hindus, since the departure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August. Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to interim government head Muhammad Yunus, revealed the figures and said 70 people had been arrested in connection with the attacks. The announcement follows the visit of Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who raised concerns about the safety and welfare of minorities in Bangladesh during meetings with the country’s leadership. Misri expressed India’s apprehension over the increasing number of attacks and urged to increase protection of vulnerable communities.
2 Rafale is enough
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday said two Rafale fighter jets would be enough for Bangladesh amid growing concerns over alleged persecution of religious minorities, especially Hindus, in the neighboring country. The BJP along with several Hindu organizations protested at Ghojadanga near the Bangladesh border in Basirhat in North 24 Parganas district to condemn the alleged persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh. Suvendu Adhikari, who led the protest, criticized Bangladesh and described the situation there as bad. We are not dependent on Bangladesh, Bangladesh is dependent on us. The official said that if we do not send 97 products then you will not get rice and clothes. If we do not send the electricity generated from Jharkhand, 80% of the villages will not have electricity. He also warned against sending Rafale fighter aircraft to Bangladesh, saying that ’40 Rafale aircraft are deployed in Hasimara. Just sending two planes will suffice.
