A cow smuggler dies in a police encounter in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, head constable also lost his life

Police killed a cow smuggler in an encounter after the death of a head constable when cow smugglers were crushed by a pickup vehicle in Jaunpur district, while two of his associates were shot in their feet.

The top police officer gave this information on Sunday. A statement issued by Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar said that under the campaign being run in Jaunpur district, Chandwak police station in-charge Inspector (SHO) Satya Prakash Singh was going on Azamgarh-Varanasi road at around 11.50 pm on Saturday night, when many cow smugglers were going towards Varanasi.

Kumar said that when the police force tried to stop them, they tried to offer their vehicles to the police and during this time the people in the pickup vehicle hit the head constable Durgesh Kumar Singh and started running towards Varanasi.

According to the statement, the police force became active after the incident and the SOG team of the district chased the pickup. The statement said that in the meantime, the seriously injured head constable was brought to the Varanasi Trauma Center where doctors declared him dead.

The police registered a case against the pickup vehicle and unknown driver in this case and started investigation. On the other hand, the police reached Tala Bela village under Cholapur in Varanasi in search of pickup and cow smugglers, where cow smugglers left the pickup vehicle and rode on two motorcycles and started running towards Chandwak.

According to the police, the cow smugglers sitting on a motorcycle fired on the team of Chandwak police station with the intention of killing them, and the police team also started shooting in self -defense.

Police said that during this period, Salman, a resident of Muttrapur Kotwa in Jaunpur, was taken to the community health center (CHC) after being shot in the chest. According to the police, however, CHC doctors sent him to Jaunpur District Hospital for better treatment, where he died.

Apart from Salman, Narendra Yadav, a resident of Chaubepur in Varanasi, Golu Yadav, a resident of Tadia, were shot in the police action, who have been arrested and admitted to the hospital for treatment. Police said that Rahul Yadav, Raju Yadav and Azad Yadav, riding on other motorcycles, escaped. The police is searching for the absconding accused.
