Candidates decided on six seats
The eight seats on which AAP lost in 2020 include Rohini, Badarpur, Laxmi Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Rohtas Nagar, Ghonda and Karawal Nagar. Of these, the party has declared candidates on six seats. Candidates have not been announced for only two seats, Rohini and Gandhi Nagar. Whereas in Laxmi Nagar, Rohtas Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Badarpur, Ghonda and Karawal Nagar the party has decided its candidates. Out of these, AAP’s defeated candidates Ram Singh, Sarita Singh and Deepak Singla have been given a second chance in 2020 on three seats.
1. Brahm Singh Tanwar: Aam Aadmi Party has made Brahm Singh Tanwar its candidate from Chhatarpur. Tanwar was the BJP candidate from Chhatarpur in the 2020 and 2015 assembly elections. Both times he had to face defeat. In the last election, he was defeated by AAP candidate Kartar Singh Tanwar by 3,720 votes. Three-time former MLA Brahm Singh Tanwar joined Aam Aadmi Party on October 31. That is, he has been made a candidate three weeks after joining the party. Brahm Singh Tanwar became MLA for the third time on BJP ticket from Chhatarpur seat in 2013. Earlier, he had won from Mehrauli seat in 1993 and 1998 assembly elections. In his resignation letter, he had said that he had taken this decision in view of the increasing difference in views. Since then there was speculation about his ticket being canceled. From here the party has made Zubair Chaudhary the candidate. Zubair Ahmed Chaudhary is the son of five-time Congress MLA Matin Ahmed. Zubair had joined Congress along with his councilor wife Shagufta on October 29. Zubair’s father and five-time MLA from Seelampur, Matin Ahmed, had also joined AAP on November 10.
