Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday retaliated against BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi’s demand to close meat shops in Delhi during Navratri. He also questioned why KFC shops and restaurants owned by BJP leaders are open during Navratri. Singh challenged the BJP that if he really cares about Hindu sentiments, then stop these establishments.
Singh, while emphasizing the double criteria of the BJP, asked why the consumption of alcohol is allowed to open liquor shops during Navratri despite being against Hindu traditions. He demanded that liquor shops be closed during the entire festival period. Singh said that the restaurants of KFC shops and BJP leaders are open, if they have courage, then stop them. Why are liquor shops open during Navratri? Keep liquor shops closed during Navratri.
Singh pointed to the hypocrisy of the BJP’s stance, saying that meat and fish are cooked in the embassies and guest houses of various countries in Delhi. The AAP leader said, “There are embassies of different countries, meat and fish are cooked. There are many guest houses from different countries in Delhi, meat is also cooked.” Earlier in the day, Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht supported BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi’s call to close meat shops during Navratri. He said, “I am against the sale of meat, eggs, fish or alcohol during Navratri. Meat shops should be closed as a symbol of brotherhood during Navratri.”
On Tuesday, Negi urged the meat shops near the temples to be closed during Tuesday and Navratri. He said that seeing the meat shop open in front of the temple, he got upset and requested the shopkeepers to keep the shop closed on Tuesday, on which the shopkeepers agreed. Talking to ANI, Negi said, “A few days ago, when I went to the temple on Tuesday, I saw that the meat shop was open right in front of the temple. Seeing this I felt very bad, so I requested the traders to keep shops outside the temples on Tuesday. They immediately accepted and now shops are being closed in Patparganj.”
