People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti expressed hope that the Jammu and Kashmir government will give age relaxation to candidates for police sub-inspector posts as the recruitment has been delayed since 2019. The former Chief Minister said that age relaxation of the candidates is a legitimate demand. “Countless JKPSI candidates are looking at a bleak future due to delay in recruitment since 2019 due to corruption and cancellation of exams,” Mehbooba said in a post on social media platform ‘X’. Age relaxation is a legitimate demand and I hope it will be approved immediately.

The written examination for the recruitment of police sub-inspectors was to be conducted in 2022, but the list of selected candidates was canceled after allegations of irregularities surfaced. A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities was ordered and the agency has filed a chargesheet against 24 people, including a BSF officer, in the case.
