New Delhi. After a gap of two days, the air quality in the national capital was again recorded in ‘very poor’ category on Sunday as the wind speed which was improving pollution levels slowed down. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the air quality index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded at 359 at 9 am while it was 255 on Saturday.
CPCB shared data of 36 out of 40 monitoring centres, out of which Anand Vihar, Alipore, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Wazirpur, Vivek Vihar and Sonia Vihar recorded air quality in ‘severe’ category while the remaining 28 had AQI in ‘severe’ category. It was in the ‘very poor’ category. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 and An AQI between 500 and 500 is considered in the ‘severe’ category.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the wind speed in Delhi was zero km per hour. Due to favorable winds for the last two days, the air quality of the capital had improved from ‘very poor’ to ‘poor’ category. A thick layer of fog covered Delhi in the early hours of Sunday due to which visibility became very low. The minimum temperature recorded in the capital on Sunday was 20.1 degrees Celsius, which was one degree above the average temperature of this season.

IMD said that the humidity level in Delhi was recorded at 93 percent in the morning. The Meteorological Department has predicted clear sky in the capital today and the maximum temperature will be around 33 degrees Celsius.
