Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, who is seen in all the movements with Kejriwal, has been ruling Delhi’s Model Town assembly seat for 12 years.

Akhilesh Pati Tripathi is an Indian politician associated with the Aam Aadmi Party. He is the MLA from Model Town constituency of Delhi Assembly constituency since 2013. Aam Aadmi Party re-nominated Tripathi from the Model Town seat for the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections. Tripathi raised the issue of setting up of a citizens’ fund for women’s safety and development of residential areas in Model Town. Tripathi was allegedly beaten up by Congress workers a day before the elections. Who was caught by Tripathi while distributing liquor in Lalbagh slum area.
Personal life
Akhilesh Pati Tripathi was born on 20 January 1984 in Mehdawal, Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh state. His father Abhay Nandan Tripathi was a school teacher. He received his schooling from his hometown Mehdawal and graduated from ECC College, Allahabad. He completed his Master of Arts in History from Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh in 2008. Tripathi married Pratima Tripathi Pandey on 26 April 2016. Tripathi moved to Delhi from his hometown in 2009 to become an IAS officer. Tripathi is a resident of Azadpur, Delhi. He was a private teacher by profession. He is currently a social worker. Tripathi, an Aam Aadmi Party MLA, joined the Indian anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare as a volunteer in 2011. Along with Arvind Kejriwal, he encouraged the youth to join the movement. Although initially his family was unhappy with his decision to join the movement and asked him to concentrate on the IAS examinations, they later supported him. Later he joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Which was a political party that emerged from the movement under the leadership of Kejriwal. He led movements across Delhi on various public issues.
In the December 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, Tripathi won the Model Town assembly constituency by defeating three-time and sitting MLA Kanwar Karan Singh of the Indian National Congress. He defeated his nearest rival Ashok Goyal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 7,875 votes; Tripathi got 38,492 votes. Tripathi promised a commercial area for traders in his constituency. In the campaign, he focused on Lalbagh, Kishorebagh, Kishorenagar, Kamalanagar and Gulabi Bagh slums and even lived in Lalbagh.
He raised the issue of slum ration mafia, who allegedly harassed Tripathi. Tripathi was hospitalized for a week. Tripathi claimed that his movement against the ration mafia earned him the support of the slum dwellers. When AAP formed the government with the support of Congress. In January 2014, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP members staged a protest near Rail Bhawan against the Delhi Police. Which refused to raid an “alleged drug and prostitution racket” in South Delhi. Many AAP protesters were detained. Tripathi was allegedly beaten by the police and admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Delhi Police refutes AAP’s allegations about Tripathi.
AAP re-nominated Tripathi from the Model Town seat for the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections. Tripathi raised the issue of setting up of a citizens’ fund for women’s safety and development of residential areas in Model Town. He was admitted to the ICU of Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital and later shifted to LNJP Hospital in Daryaganj. Tripathi retained his seat by defeating BJP’s Vivek Garg by a margin of 16,706 votes.
