Addressing the media in his hometown Coimbatore, BJP Tamil Nadu state president K Annamalai lost his cool and criticized the DMK government. Blaming the DMK government for deteriorating law and order in the state, a visibly angry Annamalai took off his shoes and said that he would not wear them until the DMK government was ousted from the state. I will walk barefoot until the DMK government is overthrown. I am requesting people, please look into all this. He said that as always, we are not going to give money to win the elections. We will contest elections without distributing money. I will not wear slippers until the DMK government goes away.

He also promised to give himself six lashes outside his residence in Coimbatore tomorrow to end all evil. He also said that he would fast for 48 days to visit all the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan in the state. The incident came to light during a media address called by the state BJP regarding the sexual harassment of a 19-year-old student at Anna University. At the press conference he also attacked the state police for “leaking” the FIR in the case, which revealed the identity of the 19-year-old engineering student.

She also condemned the police for filing the FIR in a victim-shaming manner. Annamalai also alleged that a repeat offender like Gnanashekaran, accused in the Anna University sexual harassment case, was not in the police’s troublemaker list because of his links with DMK leaders. In the press conference he also reiterated his stand that the accused in the case was a DMK functionary and he also gave proof of the same. They also produced more photographs and pamphlets linking 37-year-old Gnanasekaran with DMK leaders.
