The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the annual central contract for the Indian men’s team on Monday, 21 April, including 34 players for the period of October 2024-September 2025. The top grade led by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jaspreet Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, last time, increased the list in the list compared to 30 contracted players. R Ashwin was notable out, who retired from international cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy last year.

Rishabh Pant (who was in Grade B till last year) has been promoted and replaced Ashwin in Grade A, while Shreyas Iyer has returned to the retainership list in Grade B. Iyer had lost his place in the central contract list with Ishaan Kishan, but the two returned after continuous performance in domestic cricket. Iyer spent a brilliant year with winning as captain in the IPL and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, became a permanent member of the ODI team and recently won the ICC Player of the Month for March after being India’s highest run player in the Champions Trophy title.
