Apologize for fielding Yugendra against Ajit Pawar in Sule Baramati: NCP

Mumbai . The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule should apologize for fielding Yugendra Pawar against her uncle and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on the Baramati assembly seat. Ajit Pawar defeated his nephew Yugendra Pawar from Baramati seat by more than one lakh votes. Ajit Pawar contested the elections for the eighth time from his family bastion Baramati in Pune district and got 1,81,132 votes while Yugendra Pawar got 80,233 votes. In this way Ajit Pawar defeated his younger brother’s son Yugendra by a margin of 1,00,899.
This very important contest was being seen as a fight between the 65-year-old leader and his uncle Sharad Pawar (83). NCP spokesperson Amol Mitkari told reporters that NCP (SP) leader Sule should apologize for fielding Yugendra against his uncle, just like Ajit Pawar did to his wife Sunetra in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year. Had expressed regret for fielding him against him. Mitkari mentioned that NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar won the Karjat Jamkhed assembly seat by a very narrow margin.
Rohit Pawar defeated BJP’s Ram Shinde by just 1,243 votes. He claimed that NCP (SP) state president Jayant Patil was so disappointed with the election results on Saturday that he did not attend the function to collect his certificate from the officials. In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Mahayuti alliance returned to power with a thumping majority and won 230 seats in the 288-member assembly. The Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was reduced to just 46 seats.
According to the Election Commission, BJP has won 132 seats, Shiv Sena has won 57 seats while NCP has won 41 seats. In the MVA, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) candidates won 10 seats, Congress won 16 seats, while Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) won 20 seats. Mitkari said this should be a time of introspection for senior Congress leaders Balasaheb Thorat, Dheeraj Deshmukh and Yashomati Thakur. He said, “He has five years to introspect.” Describing Congress leader Nana Patole’s victory in the elections as surprising, the NCP leader said that the party’s state president was dreaming of becoming the Chief Minister but won by a small margin.
