Assembly Bypolls 2025 Results | TMC gains in Kaliganj seat, Congress in Nilambur, BJP and AAP in Gujarat

The results of the assembly by -elections in five seats in Gujarat, Kerala, West Bengal and Punjab are to be declared today (June 23) as the votes are being counted amid tight security. According to the latest trends, you are leading in Ludhiana West and Visavadar, Congress in Nilambur, BJP in link and TMC in Kaliganj. The by -elections were held on 19 June. Due to the death of the current MLAs, by-elections were held in Gujarat, West Bengal and Punjab and the resignation of two MLAs was voted on another seat in Kerala and Gujarat. The Nilambur assembly constituency of Kerala recorded the highest turnout of 75.27 percent, while the lowest was recorded in Ludhiana West (51.33 percent) in Punjab. The episode polled 57.91 percent, Visavadar (56.89 percent) and Kaliganj (73.36 percent).

West Bengal: Trinamool Congress leads in Kaliganj seat
The counting of votes for the by -election in Kaliganj assembly seat in Nadia district of West Bengal is going on on Monday, in which the Trinamool Congress candidate has taken an early lead over his rivals. Election Commission officials said that after the first round calculation, Trinamool Congress candidate Alifa Ahmed got 4,545 votes, while his nearest Congress candidate supported by Congress candidate Kaabil Uddin Sheikh, supported by the nearest rival Marxist Communist Party (CPI -M), secured 1,830 votes. Election officials said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ashish Ghosh is in third place who got 1,112 votes. He said that the counting of votes started with the counting of postal ballots at eight in the morning amid tight security arrangements and the process of calculation is going on peacefully. In February, due to the sudden demise of Trinamool Congress MLA Naseeruddin Ahmed, it was necessary to hold a by -election in the Kaliganj assembly seat. His daughter Alifa Ahmed (38) has been fielded from this seat as a Trinamool Congress candidate. The by -election in Kaliganj was held on June 19 and was 69.85 percent polling as per the records recorded till 5 pm. Except for sporadic incidents, voting was largely peaceful.

Kerala: Congress candidate Shaukat leads in Nilambur by -election
The counting of votes continues on Monday for the by -election in Nilambur seat in northern Kerala and the Congress Party -led opposition parties coalition United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Aryadan Shaukat Shaukat Shaukat ruling Marxist Communist Party of Marxist Communist Party (CPI -M) -led LDF candidate M. Swaraj. The Election Commission data showed that by the end of the seventh round of calculation, Shaukat, son of late Congress leader Aryadan Muhammad, had taken a 5,123 votes over CPI (M) state secretariat member Swaraj. Independent candidate and two -time MLA PV Anwar’s effective performance was surprising for both UDF and LDF. The counting of votes started at eight in the morning at Chungathara Mar Thoma Higher Secondary School. First postal ballots were counted, then counting of votes recorded in electronic voting machines (EVMs) was started at 8.10 am. This seat was voted on June 19. 263 polling stations were set up during the election and counting will be held in 19 rounds. Nilambur seat was vacant after the resignation of MLA PV Anwar, where there is a tough fight between the ruling LDF and UDF. This is the fourth year of the current term of the LDF government and electoral analysts are looking at the by -election as mid -term examination for the LDF government. The victory for the Congress -led UDF will work to boost its morale before the assembly elections next year.
BJP ahead in Gujarat curtain, Aam Aadmi Party ahead in Visavadar by minor margin
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Gopal Italia Visavadar is leading in a minor margin after the initial round of the counting of votes for the by -election for two assembly seats in Gujarat, while Rajendra Chavda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead in Kadi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fielded their candidates in both seats. The by -elections were held on June 19. The Visavadar seat became vacant in December 2023 after the then ‘AAP’ MLA Bhupendra Bhayani resigned and joined the ruling BJP. The Scheduled Castes (SC) candidate reserved constituency has been vacant by the death of BJP MLA Karsan Solanki in February. According to data shared by the Election Commission, Italia got 7,179 votes, while his close rival and BJP candidate Kirit Patel got 6,788 votes in two -phase counting. BJP’s Rajendra Chavda is ahead with 12,701 votes in Kadi, while Ramesh Chavda of Congress got 6,949 votes. Officials said that in the by -election held on June 19, 57.90 percent polling was held on Kadi seat of Mehsana district and 56.89 percent in Visavadar constituency of Junagadh district. The counting of votes started at 8 am on Monday morning.
‘AAP’ candidate Sanjeev Arora ahead in the initial trend in Ludhiana West
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Sanjeev Arora is ahead of 1,269 votes from his close rival and Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu for the by -election in Ludhiana West Assembly seat in Punjab on Monday. After the first phase of counting, Arora got 2,895 and Ashu got 1,626 votes. BJP’s Jeevan Gupta is third with 1,117 votes. The counting of votes for the by -election held on June 19 on this assembly seat started at 8 am at a center installed at Khalsa College for Women at eight in the morning. After the death of ‘AAP’ MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi in January, this seat became vacant and the election became necessary here. The by -election recorded 51.33 percent polling, which is much lower than the 64 percent polling recorded in the 2022 assembly elections. 14 candidates were in the fray for the by -election.
