At least 44 people died and 160 others were injured in a domincan Republic’s capital Santo Domingo in a dialing of a roof collapse.
Officials said that people are being searched in the debris in Jet Set Nichclub. Juan Manuel Mendez, director of the emergency campaign center, said, “We estimate that many people buried under the rubble are still alive and the authority will not give up, unless every person is taken out.”
Mendez said that the death toll has reached 44. Officials said the people who lost their lives in the accident include Montechrist’s Governor Naili Cruise.
The injured also include former Major League baseball pitcher octaevio Dotel. He said that the roof of the nightclub fell when Merngue singer Ruby Perez was performing.
Perez’s manager Enric Polyno told reporters that his (Parage’s) concert started some time before Monday and Tuesday and the roof of the nightclub collapsed about an hour later.
According to Polyno, the Sachsophone player involved in the music group of Perez was killed in the accident, while other members including Perez were injured. He said, “It happened in a shock and initially I felt that there was an earthquake. I went to a corner and saved my life somehow. ”Polyno’s shirt was soaked with blood.
President Louis Abinadar posted on ‘X’ that all rescue agencies are “tireless efforts” to help the affected people. He wrote, “We are deeply saddened by the tragedy in Jet Set Dketchlab. Since the accident, we are taking information related to this minute by minutes. ”
Abinadar reached the accident site and hugged the people searching for their loved ones. However, he refrained from answering reporters’ questions. The reason for the roof of nightclub collapses is not clear at the moment.
President Abinadar wrote on the social media forum X that all the rescue agencies are making tireless efforts to help the affected people. He wrote, “We are deeply saddened by the accident in Jet Set Nichclub. Since the incident, we are keeping an eye on it every minute.
