bangladesh violence sadhguru urges govt to protect hindus says bharat cannot be maha bharat

Spiritual guru and Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev on Wednesday reacted to reports of attacks on members of the minority Hindu community in violence-hit Bangladesh. Sadhguru demanded immediate action from India to protect Hindus in the neighbouring country which is immersed in violence that led to the ouster of Sheikh Hasina and forced her to flee the country.

The spiritual leader said in an X post “The atrocities being committed against Hindus are not just an internal matter of Bangladesh. India cannot become Maha-Bharat if we do not stand up and act at the earliest to ensure the safety of minorities in our neighbourhood. What was a part of this nation has unfortunately become a neighbourhood, but it is our responsibility to protect these people – who truly belong to this civilisation – from these shocking atrocities.

We are requesting the government to ensure the safety of Hindus: RSS leader

Earlier, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Tuesday urged the government to ensure the safety of Hindus in neighbouring Bangladesh, which is in the midst of political turmoil. Senior RSS leader Bhaiyyaji Joshi said there have been reports of the minority Hindu community being targeted.

When asked about the situation of Hindus in Bangladesh, he said, “Bangladesh is a separate country. There are limits to what voluntary organisations can do from here. But we are requesting the (Indian) government to ensure the safety of Hindus there. We are confident that the government will take steps in this direction.”

To a question whether Hindus were being targeted amid widespread unrest in the neighbouring country and the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Joshi said that it was so and there were reports about such incidents.

Bangladesh has seen dramatic developments in the last few days. Sheikh Hasina, who ruled the country with an iron fist for 15 years, resigned as prime minister on Monday following massive protests. The protests initially began as a movement against a job quota scheme but within a few weeks it turned into a major movement demanding her removal from power.
