On Saturday, six workers are expected to be trapped in a part of a roof in the under construction part of Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) in Nagarkurnul district of Telangana. Police said that the team of the construction company has gone inside for evaluation and is verifying. A senior police officer said that according to the information given by the company engaged in the work, six to eight workers are feared trapped. The official said, “The incident happened when some employees went inside in connection with work, then the roof fell inside 12-13 km of the tunnel.”

However, in a press release by the Chief Minister’s Office, without telling any number, it was indicated that some people suffered injuries. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed the District Collector, Superintendent of Police and other officials to reach the accident site to take relief measures. It said that according to the instructions of the Chief Minister, the irrigation minister of the state N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Advisor of the government on irrigation, Adityanath Das and other irrigation officers left for the spot in a special helicopter.

The CM office said in a post on X that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the accident in the SLBC tunnel. After receiving information about the roof falling in the tunnel and injuries of many people, the Chief Minister immediately alerted the officials. He ordered the officials of District Collector, SP, Fire Department, Hydra and Irrigation Department to reach the spot immediately and provide relief measures. On the orders of the Chief Minister, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Irrigation Advisor Adityanath Das and Irrigation Officer left for the accident site in a special helicopter.
