Three terrorist associates linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were arrested on Friday for their alleged involvement in a grenade attack in Srinagar. Security forces were targeted in this attack and 12 civilians were injured. Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone VK Birdi said those arrested have been identified as Usama Yasin Shaikh, Omar Faiyaz Shaikh and Afnan Mansoor Shaikh. All three are from Ikhrajpora area of the city. The officer said police have solved the case with the arrest of three terrorist associates.

Sunday’s attack came in the backdrop of a series of terrorist attacks and encounters in Jammu and Kashmir, when the first elected government was sworn in on October 16 after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had asked the security forces to give a strong response to the terrorist organizations operating in the area and crush them.
