Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha that I support the bill introduced by my cabinet colleague. I am listening carefully to the discussion going on from 12 noon. He said that I think there are many misconceptions among many members, whether it is real or political. Also, through this House, efforts are being made to spread those misconceptions throughout the country. He further stated that the Waqf Act and Board came into force in 1995. All the arguments about incorporating non-Muslims are about interference in Waqf. First of all, no one can come into non-Muslim Waqf. Understand this well.

Amit Shah said that there is no provision to include any non-Muslim in the management of religious institutions, we do not want to do so. It is a great misconception that this law will interfere with the religious conduct of Muslims and intervene in the property donated by them. This confusion is being spread to the minorities to create fear for its vote bank. Shah said that the Waqf Bill would not interfere in Muslim religious practices. He alleged that the politics of appeasement is going on.
Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that no non-Muslim will be appointed in the Waqf Board under the new law. Amit Shah targeted the opposition and said that you will break the country with your myths. The bill is to stop the ongoing corruption in the Waqf Board. If the amendment had been brought in 2013, I can say that you would not have to bring the bill. He said that the Waqf Board is not a religious institution but an administrative institution. Fearing the 2014 results, he did not bring these amendments, but made it extremist.

Shah questioned where the non-Muslim members would join? In Council and Waqf Board. What will they do? They will not run any religious activity. They will only take care of the administration of the property donated by a person under the Waqf law, whether it is being done according to the law, whether the property is being used for the purpose for which it was donated. Amit Shah said that the Congress had donated 123 VIP properties to the Waqf Board in New Delhi just before the 2014 elections. He said that the Congress had also amended the Waqf Act in 2013 and donated the land of the railway to Waqf. He said that the purpose of Waqf Parishad and boards will be to catch those who exploit Waqf properties.
