In fact, Anurag Thakur’s nomination was rejected to include the election to be held on March 28 in the electoral college. After which it was said that he is not eligible to represent. Himachal Pradesh Boxing Association had sent the names of Thakur and Vice President Rajesh Bhandari for the election.

The Indian Boxing Federation has given a major blow to former Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. BFI released a 60 -member electoral list which was finalized after investigation.

Explaining the decision, BFI said that Anurag Thakur’s name was sent by the state unit. However, he has been found to be commissioned due to the Indian Boxing Federation’s notice of March 7, 2025 and violation of the National Sports Development Conduct 2011. The March 7 notice sent to all the concerned state associations said that only real and duly elected members of state units affiliated to BFI would be authorized to represent their respective states/union territories during the election AGM.

A BFI source said that Anurag Thakur is not an elected member of the Himachal Pradesh State Union. Hence his name has been rejected. It is the job of BFI to check all the names and send the list of eligible candidates to the Election Officer which will now upload the list. The BFI also rejected the names of Larry Kharpran and Ashish Kumar Saha for this reason and made it clear that two names sent by the Delhi State Union were under approval from Rohit Jainendra Jain and Neeraj Kant Bhat Election Officer.
