California Shooting: Gunman kills three at California bar; six wounded | World News

A gunman opened fire at a biker bar in California’s Orange County on Wednesday night, resulting in the death of three individuals. The local sheriff’s office reported that the authorities responded by taking down the shooter.
Following the incident at Cook’s Corner bar located in Trabuco Canyon, the Orange County Sheriff conveyed through a post on X that six other individuals were transported to hospitals. Among them, five had sustained gunshot wounds.
“Confirmed 4 deceased at scene, inc. the shooter,” the Orange County Sheriff said on social media. “6 transported to hospitals, 5 reported (with) gunshot wounds.”
At a news briefing, the county’s fire department mentioned that two of the injured were in critical condition.
Although CBS Los Angeles, the first to report the shooting, initially asserted that five people had lost their lives, they later referenced KCAL News, stating that the event had its origins in a domestic dispute between a retired law enforcement officer and his wife.
While the Reuters news agency did not receive additional details about the incident from the Sheriff’s office, it was noted that they were exploring the possibility of the gunman being a retired officer themselves.
The office of the California governor declared that it was closely monitoring the situation stemming from the shooting.
Reports of the shooting initially reached the authorities at 7:04 p.m. local time (0204 GMT Thursday). Within just four minutes, by 7:08, the gunman had been neutralized, and at least one firearm had been secured at the scene.
The incident is the latest gun violence to hit the United States, a country where tens of thousands of people die from firearms every year.
At least 12,346 people have been killed in the United States in gun violence this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), a non-governmental group. That figure does not include at least 15,576 suicides involving firearms.
There have been at least 465 mass shootings — defined as incidents where four or more people were shot — in 2023, according to the GVA.
