Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has formally requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to get the Union Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigated by the disappearance of a couple from Indore in Meghalaya. The matter has become a matter of discussion at the national level after King Raghuvanshi was found dead and his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi disappeared. In a post on social media platform X, CM Yadav expressed solidarity with a heartbroken family, saying, “Madhya Pradesh stands with Sonam Raghuvanshi’s family in this hour of crisis.” He said that he personally spoke to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya in this matter.

Yadav assured that senior officials of Madhya Pradesh are in constant coordination with their counterparts in Meghalaya to closely monitor the developments. He said, “I have requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to order a CBI inquiry into the matter. Every possible effort is being made for the safe return of Sonam Raghuvanshi.” The case is related to the missing couple in Shillong during the honeymoon on 23 May. The king’s body was later found in a valley near Sohra, while Sonam was not detected.

The family of 25 -year -old Sonam Raghuvanshi of Indore, who went missing in Meghalaya on honeymoon, had earlier urged the central government to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The appeal has been made amid the negligence made by the Meghalaya Police and the increasing disappointment over ineffective investigation. Sonam and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi (29) disappeared only a few hours after checking out of a homestay in Nongriyat village in East Khasi Hills district on 23 May. On June 2, the king’s body was recovered from a deep moat near a waterfall in the Sohra area, about 20 km from Homestay. The Meghalaya Police later registered a case of murder, but so far no clue has been found about Sonam’s hideout.
