During that meeting, he empowered the forces to decide the way of reaction independently, choose the goal and fix the time for the operation. After the Pahalgam terror attack, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and S Jaishankar have arrived at the residence of PM Modi for the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting. The meeting was held by the Prime Minister a day after a high -level meeting convened at his residence in New Delhi on Tuesday, a week earlier in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, 26 people – mostly tourists – were killed. Government sources told India Today TV that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a “complete operational freedom” to the Indian armed forces in a meeting on Tuesday to respond to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The CCPA plays an important role in reviewing the major political and economic issues of national importance and making decisions.
In the past, CCPA is called during critical moments. One such meeting was held in February 2019 after the Pulwama terror attack, in which security situation was reviewed and discussions were discussed with terrorism. A few days later, on February 26, 2019, the Indian Air Force carried out airstrikes in Balakot, Pakistan. The current members of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is its president, as well as Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
In the first CCS meeting held a day after the Pahalgam terror attack, India took several comprehensive diplomatic and strategic retaliation against Pakistan, which effectively reduce diplomatic relations with Pakistan, closure major border routes, suspend the Indus Water Treaty, and expel Pakistani military attested from their highways in New Delhi.
