Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Saturday confirmed in an important official statement that India had lost some of their fighters due to the ‘strategic mistakes’ in the early stages of military conflict with Pakistan last month. However, General Chauhan did not disclose the exact number of damaged or destroyed fighter aircraft. Let me tell you that this is the first time India’s top military officer has officially confirmed the loss of fighter jets in military conflicts.
The military conflict, named Operation Sindoor, began as India’s retaliation after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. India had launched aerial attack on nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan under this operation. In response to these attacks, the neighboring country Pakistan also retaliated, causing a rapid military conflict between the two countries.

According to sources, both sides suffered losses in the initial conflict, but Pakistan offered a ceasefire from the front after ‘heavy loss’. India accepted the proposal, resulting in stress reduced and the situation is currently under control.
In an interview during the Shangri-La talk in Singapore, General Chauhan said that the important thing is not to be demolished, rather why they were demolished and what mistakes were made. He rejected Pakistan’s claim that he killed six Indian jets during the May 7-10 struggle, described it as ‘absolutely wrong’. General Chauhan said that the Indian Air Force understood its strategic mistake, rectified it and re -blowed its jet aircraft after two days.
