Australia’s star all -rounder Marcus Stoinis has suddenly shocked everyone by announcing his retirement from ODI cricket. Stoinis was named in Australia’s squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy, but now Australia will have to change the squad after their retirement decision. There is speculation that there is nothing going well in the Australian camp. Stoinis has announced a sudden retirement despite being named in the squad for the Champions Trophy. He says that he wants to focus his attention on T20 cricket.
This all -rounder of Australia made his debut in 2015 after which he played 71 ODIs. In which he has taken 1495 runs as well as 48 wickets.
During this, Stoinis said that playing ODI cricket has been an incredible journey for Australia. And I am grateful for every moment spent in green and golden ground. This was not an easy decision, but I believe that this is the right time for me to stay away from ODIs and focus completely on the next chapter of my career. Let me tell you, Stoinis performed the best performance of her career by playing an unbeaten innings of 146 runs against New Zealand in Auckland in 2017. He last participated on a tour of Pakistan in the last November. Stoinis was also part of Australia’s World Cup winning team in 2023 and was the ODI cricketer of the year for the team in 2018-19.
