The body of a 16-year-old student from Bihar, who was preparing for IIT-JEE exam while staying in Kota, was found hanging from the fan in a hostel room of Vigyan Nagar police station area on Friday.
Officials said that the student was found hanging from the ceiling fan, while in the hostel, to prevent incidents of suicide, such devices have been installed in the fans to prevent hanging.
Police believe it to be a case of suicide, although no letter has been found and the reason for the student’s suicide is being investigated. Vigyan Nagar police station officer Mukesh Meena said that the student, a resident of Vaishali district of Bihar, was in class 11 and was preparing for IIT-JEE in the city since April this year. This is the 17th case of suicide of coaching students in Kota since January this year. Last year, 26 such unfortunate cases were reported.
