The air has once again become poisonous for the people living in the national capital Delhi. The air quality index in Delhi has once again reached ‘severe’ category. The air quality level in Delhi was 427 on Sunday morning. The air quality level in Delhi has improved from ‘very poor’ category.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said the major pollutant is once again PM 2.5. Apart from the cold wave, a layer of fog also blanketed the national capital on Sunday morning. According to the forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius at 7 am, which is likely to remain at this level throughout the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius.

During the winter season, people without roofs were seen taking shelter in camps and tents set up for them in Delhi. Delhi’s AQI has been continuously deteriorating since last Sunday due to the decline in wind speed, making it the worst since December 2021. According to IMD’s air quality forecast for Sunday, the AQI again reached ‘severe’ level. According to CPCB’s daily data, the 24-hour average AQI stood at 370 at 4 pm on Saturday, which was ‘very poor’. On both Thursday and Friday, the air quality was above 400 points, which was in the ‘severe’ level.
