New Delhi: Shocking details have emerged out of the horrific case involving Premoday Khakha, the Delhi bureaucrat who allegedly raped his friend’s minor daughter at his residence. According to reports citing police officials, the accused repeatedly raped the victim, a minor girl, then aged 14, several times between November 2020 and January 2021.

“The accused have been identified as Premoday Khakha and his wife Seema Rani, residents of Shakti Enclave in Burari area. Seema is a housewife. The case was registered on August 13,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said.

After her father passed away in October 2020, the girl’s mother sent her to Khakhas, who were their family friends. According to a PTI report, the girl called Premoday Khakha ‘Mama’. Despite the trust she entrusted in him, Khakha, however, allegedly raped the girl on multiple occasions during her stay at the residence.

On one of the occasions, when she became pregnant, Khakha’s wife reportedly asked her son to get pregnancy termination pills and gave them to the girl. In January 2021, the girl returned to her mother. In August, the girl suffered an anxiety attack. When her mother took her to a hospital, she narrated the incident to the doctors during the counselling session.

“He (the accused) is a deputy director in the WCD department. Since an FIR has been lodged in the alleged matter, the law should take its course.The Delhi government is sensitive in regard to such serious matters of women’s safety and child abuse. If he has committed any such reprehensible act, the sternest possible action should be taken against him,” the Delhi government said in a statement.
