Voting for 70 seats in Delhi has been completed. However, the voters who have gone inside the polling stations till 6:00 pm were allowed to cast their votes. The results of the Delhi election will come on 8 February. Polling started in Delhi from 7:00 am this morning. Delhi had 57.70 percent polling till 5 pm. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is hoping for a third consecutive win on the strength of its governance and welfare schemes, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress are expecting return.

President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Union Minister S.K. Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal were among the initial voters. AAP focused on his governance model and Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi held rallies across the city. Under the leadership of veterans like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda, the BJP targeted ‘AAP’ on allegations of corruption and law and order. Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, the Congress also campaigned strongly and attacked both AAP and BJP on various issues.

During the election campaign, issues such as “Sheesh Mahal” controversy, Yamuna’s water quality, governance, law and order, women welfare and voter list allegations were strongly raised. The issue of providing free facilities in pre -election promises also dominated. ‘AAP’ has promised free bus travel, auto and taxi drivers for insurance and financial assistance of Rs 18,000 to temple priests and gurdwara glands. On the other hand, the BJP has promised financial assistance of Rs 21,000 for pregnant women and subsidized LPG cylinders for Rs 500, while the Congress has committed to pay a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 8,500. The election results coming on February 8 will be clear whether ‘AAP’ is able to retain its government, BJP is able to break its series or Congress is able to give some shocking results.
