More than 25,000 security personnel and 15 company of paramilitary forces have been deployed in the national capital for the swearing -in ceremony of the new Chief Minister of Delhi to be held on Thursday at Ramlila Maidan.
A Delhi Police official gave this information. Several top leaders of the party, including the Chief Ministers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states, are expected to attend the swearing -in ceremony.
“We have deployed more than 15 companies of more than 25 thousand police personnel and paramilitary forces,” the official said. He said that strict security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order.
He said, “More than five thousand police and paramilitary personnel are deployed around Ramlila Maidan and around it. Apart from this, about 2,500 places have been identified strategically and heavy force has already been deployed there.
Rekha Gupta, who became MLA for the first time, will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The BJP has returned to power after 26 years after defeating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, who has been in power for the last 10 years.
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that in the meeting of BJP Legislature Party on Wednesday, Rekha Gupta (50) was elected the leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly. Later Gupta gave Lt. Governor V.K. Met Saxena and claimed to form the government.
Police said that only authorized people will be allowed to visit the venue and a plan has been prepared for smooth traffic management. About 50,000 people are expected to attend the swearing -in ceremony, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues and the Chief Ministers of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ruled states. Police said that every street is being monitored through CCTV cameras that identify face on the basis of AI.
