Do not politicize the murder of Baba Siddiqui: Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday said the murder of his party leader Baba Siddiqui should not be politicized and the state government will not rest until the culprits are punished.

Former Maharashtra minister Siddiqui (66) was shot by three people on Saturday night outside the office of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui in Kher Nagar of Bandra area in Mumbai. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

After this shocking incident, the opposition targeted the Maharashtra government and raised questions on the law and order situation in the state. Assembly elections are proposed in the state next month.

Ajit Pawar reached Cooper Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday, where the post-mortem of Baba Siddiqui was conducted. He said that NCP is deeply saddened by the death of Baba Siddiqui who was a leader who was loved by many and personally he has lost a dear friend whom he had known for years.

“We are heartbroken and are struggling to come to terms with the brutality of this incident,” the NCP leader said in a post on X after visiting the hospital. This is not just a political loss, it is a deeply personal tragedy that has shaken us all.

“I strongly urge everyone not to politicize this horrific incident,” he said. This is not the time for division or to exploit the suffering of others for political gain. For now, our focus should be on ensuring justice.”

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government will not rest until the culprits of the murder are punished. “We understand the immense grief of Baba Siddiqui’s family, who have suffered the greatest loss,” Pawar said. Let’s show respect and compassion instead of allowing opportunistic voices to turn this tragedy into a political spectacle.
