Voting is to be held in 2 phases on 81 seats of Jharkhand Assembly elections. Of which the first phase will be on 13th November and the second phase will be on 20th November. The counting of votes will take place on November 23. Gandey Assembly seat is one of the 81 assembly seats in the state. This time an interesting contest is being seen on Gandeya assembly seat. JMM made Kalpana Soren its candidate
Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren is in the electoral fray from Jharkhand’s Gandey assembly seat. She is contesting the elections on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket. Kalpana Soren had also won the by-election held this year. He defeated BJP’s Dilip Verma. Kalpana Sorena is considered the star campaigner of JMM. At the same time, Bharatiya Janata Party has expressed confidence in Muniya Devi to compete with Kalpana Soren. BJP and AJSU are contesting elections together in Jharkhand.

Gandey seat is the stronghold of JMM
Gandeya assembly seat is also considered the stronghold of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. This assembly seat came into existence in the year 1977. Since then, JMM has won this seat 6 times. Whereas Congress party has won twice. In the year 1977, Laxman Swarnkar of Janata Party had won this seat. Then in the year 1985, JMM had hoisted the flag on this seat for the first time. JMM’s Salkhan Soren has been MLA from this seat 4 times.

Let us tell you that during the 2019 assembly elections, JMM’s Sarfaraz Ahmed had won from Gandey seat. Sarfaraz got a total of 64,795 votes in this election. Whereas Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Jai Prakash Verma stood second with 56,116 votes.
