Haryana assembly election results were very unexpected for Congress: Ashok Gehlot

Jaipur . Senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot termed the results of Haryana Assembly elections as unexpected and said that the real reasons will be known only after a review by a committee of the party. However, he said that this will not affect the by-elections to be held on some seats in Rajasthan. Responding to a question at the airport here, Gehlot said, “The results of Haryana elections were very unexpected. The entire country, the entire state, the people of the state and workers, the media, the exit polls, all were telling (predicting) the victory of the Congress but suddenly the results were completely opposite.
He said, “Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Saheb and Rahul Gandhi ji called a meeting, talked… finally after thinking and pondering, it was decided that we should get to the bottom of what happened in reality. So they will form a team. The team will talk to everyone.” Gehlot said, ”When a party loses elections, it is discussed whether there was factionalism in the party or caste equations changed or there was overconfidence… these are the three-four issues… but the real situation is What is it, I think it will be known when the investigation is done.
On the question of Congress not forming an alliance in Haryana, Gehlot said, “I think that when the decision has been taken to form a committee and investigate, then we should wait for it.” By-elections are to be held on seven assembly seats in Rajasthan. Regarding the impact of the Haryana Assembly election results on this, Gehlot said, “See, this is a local election…it is an election here. No effect will be seen in this…. But whichever party loses, it makes at least a little difference among the workers. We should accept this.
On the question of caste equations in Haryana elections, he also said, “My answer is that there was a review meeting yesterday, after that we should wait for the decisions taken.” Many decisions of the previous Ashok Gehlot government have been repeated by the BJP government in Rajasthan. When reviewed, the former chief minister said, “Those schemes should not be stopped… Our schemes were so brilliant that I am proud to say that our schemes are being adopted in other states. By closing such schemes, they too are facing losses and the public is also suffering. There is no point in closing them.
