In his written address, Dr. Neerja Madhav said that without the existence of nationalism, a person cannot be a humanist and thus cannot be an internationalist. Nationalism is an emotional feeling of the citizens of any country towards their country, which they have inherited in the same way as they have inherited the natural resources, culture, traditions etc. of their country. With the advent of the 21st century, efforts were being made by some extremists to give a narrow and communal form to nationalism, then it came to mind that the basic form of nationalism should be revealed to the new generations and society. The result of that is nationalism.
The main speaker of the program was Prof. Ram Sudhar Singh said that just as the Ganga originating from Gangotri and flowing under various names in the mountains provides greenery to the plains, but its goal is the infinite ocean. Identity has to be surrendered. The canvas of Neerja ji’s writing process is very big. In her fiction she raises those topics which have remained mostly untouched till now. All his stories along with novels like Yamdeep, Geshe Jampa are proof of this. Dr. Madhav has his own clear vision regarding national and cultural thinking.
Special guest Prof. Referring to the challenges of globalization, Arvind Joshi clarified India’s broad cultural nationalism and said that the narrow and wrong interpretation of nationalism through the western lens is creating serious crisis.
