The issue of death of 11 people in a stampede in celebration of RCB’s first time to win the IPL Trophy is still hot. In fact, 56 other people were injured in a stampede on June 4 outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. A large number of fans gathered towards the stadium to celebrate RCB for the first time to win the IPL title. At the same time, Sunil Gavaskar has now said that if RCB had won the IPL in the first few seasons, then perhaps such tragedy would not have been seen.

On the death of the fans in the stampede, Gavaskar said that RCB fans had to wait 18 years long for their team’s first IPL title. Hence there was a boom of emotions. He said that there is no point to blame anyone for this tragedy.

In his column written for mid -day, he wrote that, if RCB had done the trophy in the first few years, then the tide of emotions would not be seen as if it has been shown after 18 years long wait. Other teams have also won but their celebration was probably not because their fans did not wait long for it.

Sunil Gavaskar wrote that for just one glimpse of his favorite players, washing people with his life is hearty. He wrote that, the death in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium is really heartbreaking. All those people wanted to see a glimpse of the players who have given them so much happiness for years, especially in the last 2 months, they expected the IPL trophy every year but did not happen.
