In the multi-polls in Uttar Pradesh, results for all nine assembly constituencies will be declared on Saturday, November 23. Voting was held on November 20 on Meerapur, Kundarki, Sisamau, Katehari, Phulpur, Majhwan, Ghaziabad, Karhal and Khair seats. According to the Election Commission at 2 pm, BJP was leading in Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Phulpur, Katehri and Majhwan seats. Ally Rashtriya Lok Dal is leading in Meerapur. Samajwadi Party is leading only in Karhal and Shishmau.

Karhal is the stronghold of party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Yadav won the 2022 elections by nearly 70,000 votes, extending his party’s hold on the seat for more than three decades. The by-elections were triggered after sitting MLAs, including Yadav, were elected to the Lok Sabha. In Mirapur, RLD’s Mithlesh Pal is ahead of her nearest rival SP’s Sumbul Rana by about 20,000 votes. In the last election, this seat was won by Chandan Chauhan of RLD.
