Due to the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra, both Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi are facing rebellion in Akola West constituency. As soon as the official candidature of Sajid Khan Pathan from Mahavikas Aghadi was announced in Akola West Assembly constituency, Dr. Zeeshan Hussain, an aspirant of the same party, immediately joined Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and filed his candidature. Along with this, former mayor Madan Bhargad has also filed independent candidature. BJP Vijay Aggarwal has got the official candidature of the party from Mahayuti in the elections.
As soon as his candidature was announced, senior BJP leader Dr. Ashok Olambay has joined Prahar Janshakti Party and filed his candidature nomination. Despite Congress getting the seat from Mahavikas Aghadi in Akola West constituency, Rajesh Mishra and Prakash Dawley from the same alliance partner Shiv Sena (UBT) have also filed independent candidature. Efforts are being made by senior leaders to persuade all of them to withdraw their names.
Revolt seen in Akola for the first time in 30 years
In Akola West assembly constituency, late Govardhan Sharma retained the constituency with the BJP by winning consecutively. There was never any rebellion in this constituency during his tenure. But after his demise, the alliance is facing rebellion in this constituency for the first time in 30 years and senior party leaders are having to make extreme efforts to stop this internal rebellion.
Biography of BJP candidate Vijay Agarwal
In the assembly elections of Maharashtra which has 288 assembly seats, 13 candidates are in the fray in Akola West assembly seat. Voting for Akola West assembly seat will be held on November 20 while the results will be declared on November 23. This seat is one of the five assembly seats in Akola district. Vijay Kamal Kishore Agarwal from BJP, Dr. Dhananjay alias Baba Nalat from BSP, Saajhe Khan Pathan from Congress are in the fray from Akola West Assembly seat. The main contest in Akola West is between Congress and BJP.
BSP has made the contest triangular. 62 year old BJP candidate Vijay’s father’s name is Kamalkishore Agarwal. His residence is Ramnagar Chowk District Akola, near Shri Krishna Dhyan Temple. While Govardhan Sharma was alive, Akola West had remained an impenetrable fort of BJP for three decades, after his death, BJP has expressed confidence in Vijay Aggarwal as the new face. Here rebels can spoil the game of BJP. This seat was dominated by Shiv Sena before it was a stronghold of BJP. Due to disintegration of parties and alternative candidates, there is a multi-cornered contest here.
