The Indian team has reached Optus Stadium in Perth from WACA. Where India and Australia have to face each other in the first test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. This test series is to start from 22nd November. The Indian team played an intra-squad match for the warm-up at the Western Australia Cricket Association ground for the Test, in which Shubman Gill and KL Rahul also got injured. Although KL Rahul has recovered from his injury, Gill is almost certain to be ruled out of the first Test.
Captain Rohit Sharma and senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami are already not available for the Perth Test and now Gill’s exclusion is a big blow for the Indian team. Gill had scored 28 and 42 runs in both the innings of that intra-squad match. A lot of pain was also visible during Gill’s batting. Gill suffered a left thumb injury in the slips while fielding.
Recently, the 0-3 clean sweep against New Zealand in the home Test series had definitely given a big blow to the hopes of the Indian team. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia has now become do or die for the Indian team. If the Indian team wants to reach the final of the World Test Championship without depending on the results of any other team, then it will have to defeat Australia 4-0.
This Test series is very important for the Indian team and the future of many players will be at stake in this Test series, which includes names like Virat Kohli, Head Coach Gambhir as well as R Ashwin, Siraj.
