In the three-match Test series, India has suffered two consecutive defeats at the hands of New Zealand. First in Bengaluru and then in Pune Test, the Kiwi team has defeated India by 113 runs. New Zealand has captured the series by winning the second consecutive match.
New Zealand scored 255 runs in the second innings at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, giving India a target of 359 runs to win. In response to which the batsmen of the Indian team failed. Except Yashasvi Jaiswal, other batsmen were seen struggling to score runs. In response to 359 runs, India could score only 245 runs after losing all the wickets in the second innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal (77) and Ravindra Jadeja scored the highest 42 runs.
In the second innings, apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal (77), only Ravindra Jadeja could play comfortably against the Kiwi bowlers. Whereas experienced Rohit Sharma (8) and Virat Kohli (17) failed to play big innings for the second consecutive innings. Shubman Gill scored 23 runs. Rishabh Pant was unfortunately run out, while Sarfaraz Khan, who had scored a brilliant century in the first Test, did not even play in the second innings on the Pune pitch and became Santner’s victim on a personal score of 9 runs. He contributed 11 runs in the first innings. Washington Sundar was out after scoring 21 runs.
Captain Rohit Sharma was the first batsman to be out in the second innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal did the work of destroying the Kiwi attack and made a partnership of 62 runs with Shubman Gill. Santner broke this partnership by getting Gill caught at first slip. Jaiswal was also out after being caught at first slip. Superstar Virat Kohli failed once again.
Rishabh Pant was run out after a misunderstanding with Virat Kohli. Safraz Khan was bowled by Santner after scoring 9 runs. Washington Sundar scored 21 runs in 47 balls and was out to Glenn Phillips just before tea. Ashwin 18, Akashdeep was out after scoring one run. Whereas till the end Jadeja lost his wicket after scoring 42 runs.
Earlier, New Zealand started playing ahead of its yesterday’s score of 198 runs for five wickets and their entire team returned to the pavilion after scoring 255 runs. From India, Washington Sundar was the most successful by taking four wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets and Ashwin took two wickets.
