The Delhi High Court on Monday granted interim bail to the expelled BJP leader and Unnao rape case Kuldeep Singh Sengar till 4 February for undergoing eye surgery. A bench of Justice Yashwant Verma and Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar suspended their sentence that Sengar’s cataract surgery was scheduled to be held here on Tuesday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The court directed him to surrender to the jail officials on 5 February.

The High Court is pending. He has demanded his conviction and cancellation of punishment. In 2017, a minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by Sengar. On December 20, 2019, BJP leader Kuldeep Sengar was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted on charges of raping a minor. However, Sanger challenged the trial court’s decision in the High Court, on which the hearing is still pending.
