During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of Assam and Maharashtra Police, said that the statement of a co-accused will be recorded in the Guwahati FIR, while the investigation in connection with the FIR in Mumbai has been completed, but the charge sheet has not been filed yet.
The Supreme Court said that the investigation regarding podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia has been completed and he would hear his petition on his petition to return his passport in the case of indecent remarks on the YouTube show. On February 18, the apex court had protected Allahabadia from arrest in several FIRs lodged about his comments during the YouTube show and directed him to submit his passport to the investigating officer of the Nodal Cyber Police Station in Thane. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh said it would consider Allahabad’s petition on 28 April.
The bench recorded Mehta’s statement and said that the investigation in Allahabad case has been completed. The apex court on March 3 allowed Allahabadia to resume its podcast the Ranveer show, provided that it maintains morality and decency and make it suitable for audiences of all ages. A case was registered to comment on parents and sex in the comedian time Raina’s YouTube show “India’s Got Latant”, popularly known as Beerbieceps.
The Supreme Court initially barred Allahabadia from circulating any program of its podcast, which directly or indirectly affects the properties of the cases under consideration. On February 18, the Supreme Court, while granting interim protection from arrest to Allahabadia, described his comments as “obscene” and said that he has “dirty mind”, which embarrasses the society.
