The wait of IPL lovers will end in just a few hours. Because the countdown for IPL 2025 mega auction has started. The auction is going to be held on 24 and 25 November in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia. The fate of 577 players will be at stake in the two-day auction. However, only 204 players will be lucky because 10 teams have the same number of slots left.
How much money is left in the purse of 10 teams
10 teams currently have Rs 641.5 crore. All the franchises spent Rs 558.5 crore on retention and retained a total of 46 players. South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen was the most expensive player in retention. He was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 23 crore. RCB spent Rs 21 crore for Virat Kohli. Lucknow Super Giants retained Nicholas Pooran for Rs 21 crore. Kohli and Pooran were the joint second most expensive retentions.
Punjab Kings have the most money in their purse
After the retention of just two players, Punjab Kings will enter the auction with the highest budget. At present Rs 110.5 crores are left in his purse. Punjab spent only Rs 9.5 crore in retention and retained two players. PBKL spent Rs 5.5 crore on uncapped Shashank Singh and Rs 4 crore on Prabhsimran Singh. Punjab will now have four RTM cards in the auction. A team could retain only a maximum of 6 players. Teams that have retained less than 6 players will get a chance to use RTM cards in the auction.
Rajasthan Royals have the lowest purse
Whereas Rajasthan Royals have the least amount left in their purse. Royals have only Rs 41 crore left in the purse. RR spent Rs 18 crore each on captain Sanju Samson and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. RR is one of the two teams which retained maximum 6 players. IPL 2024 winners Kolkata Knight Riders have also retained 6 players. KKR has a budget of Rs 51 crore.
