IPL 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad have decided to retain their players ahead of the mega auction for the 18th edition. The Orange Army is set to retain Heinrich Klaasen, captain Pat Cummins, rising Indian star Abhishek Sharma, newly capped all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and a bazooka in the form of Travis Head. These are the players of the team who performed brilliantly in the 17th edition of IPL.

According to a report, SRH had to distribute all the Rs 75 crore as they are retaining all five capped players and Klaasen got the biggest share of Rs 23 crore. Apart from this, Cummins will get Rs 18 crore, Abhishek will get Rs 14 crore, Travis Head will also get Rs 14 crore and Nitish will get Rs 6 crore. This is a core core group of players and Sunrisers should be commended for being able to retain all of them.

However, this means that SRH will only have Rs 45 crore in the auction. SRH have the option to get back one more player through RTM, however, their spending power will be tested as they will have to buy 18-20 players for a purse of just Rs 45 crore, with the option of retaining only five of them. Rs 75 crore has been paid for this. Klaasen, Cummins and Abhishek were already confirmed as SRH’s first three retentions, however, since Reddy became a capped player at the beginning of the month, the management is likely considering its options, as well. What he was doing was to remain an all-rounder and be able to manage those interactions.
