IRCTC to Serve Kashmiri Vegetarian Cuisine on Katra Srinagar Vande Bharat Train

The recently launched Vande Bharat train between Katra and Srinagar is receiving tremendous response. Since its onset on 7 June, almost all seats have been booked in both pair trains by 25 July. The waiting list for these trains or “no seat” status for these trains is shown on the IRCTC website. This train has provided a new travel option for both tourists and commercial passengers. This year the number of tourists visiting Kashmir has increased to more than 3.74 lakhs as compared to the previous year, and a large number of people are now preferring to travel by train.

Katra-Srinagar Vande India Train Kashmiri Vegetarian Cuisine

RCTC has decided to serve Kashmiri vegetarian dishes to the passengers of Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train from the second week of July. Additional General Manager of IRCTC Anand Kumar Jha told PTI, “We are working on a plan to serve local cuisine in Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train and hopefully it will start from the second week of July.”

An official of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) said, “Those who would like to taste local food during the journey on the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train, they will be served as a breakfast, popular local disasters like Ambal Pumpkin, Babaru, Jammu Paratha and lunch, Kashmiri Dum Aloo and Jammu Rajma. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train connecting Srinagar to the country’s railway network on June 6.

The official said, it has been decided to promote local cuisine in the premium train and we have made a special plan for the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train. We talked to all top food vendors and hotels like Nathu, Holiday in, JW Marriott and ITC and selected the most popular local cuisine.

According to IRCTC, other breakfast and lunch items, such as Upma, Poha, Veg Cutlets, etc. will also be available as an alternative to travelers who do not want to taste local dishes. IRCTC said that it has already started the process of providing local food options in major trains like Vande Bharat and Rajdhani Express.
