Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again raised questions about Indian Railways. He has targeted the Modi government at the Center over the condition of the railway. Taking a video, Rahul wrote on X that during a conversation with the officers and employees of the Modern Coach Factory in Rae Bareli yesterday, an important question arose – is our railway backbone the backbone of millions of Indians ready for the 21st century?

The Congress leader said that fast efforts should be made to make it more modern, safe and competent in view of the needs of the present time. Railways will have to develop as a strong pillar of production and economy, not just a means of travel. He said that instead of depending on foreign machines, manufacturing and innovation, our goal should be fully on strengthening the localized production system.

Gandhi said that our engineers and technicians work hard day and night. If their hard work is given the right direction and concrete steps are taken as per the demand of time, then the railway can play an important role not only in transport but also in strengthening our economy. A stampede at New Delhi railway station on Saturday night killed 18 people and injured more than 12 people. The officers provided this information. A senior railway official said that the incident occurred when some passengers slipped and fell on others while landing from the ‘footover bridge’.

Prayagraj (where Mahakumbh has been organized) on platform numbers 14 and 15, a crowd of passengers gathered to ride on the train leading to which there was a stampede. Hospital and police sources said that 18 people have died. Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway Himanshu Upadhyay said that Magadh Express going to Patna was standing on platform number 14 and New Delhi-Jammu North Sampark Kranti Express was standing on number 15.
