A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that on the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar was elected as the 47th President of the United States of America by President Donald J. Will represent the Indian government at Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.

The statement further said, ‘During the visit to Washington, the External Affairs Minister (Jaishankar) will also hold meetings with representatives of the future US administration as well as some other dignitaries visiting the US to attend the swearing-in ceremony.’

Donald Trump will take the oath of office in front of the Capitol building in a ceremony conducted by the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. After this he will give his inaugural speech.
