The political temperature in Jharkhand has risen due to a statement by Congress’s Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir. In fact, on Thursday (November 14), Mir said in an election rally that if India Bloc comes to power, neither Hindus nor Muslims will be seen and even infiltrators will be given cylinders for Rs 450. This comment of Mir created an uproar in Jharkhand and gave the BJP an opportunity to corner the Congress.
Ghulam Ahmed Mir had gone to address an election rally in Chandrapura of Bermo assembly constituency on Thursday. There he said, ‘We have promised that if our government is formed, we will provide gas cylinders at Rs 450 from December 1. This will be for the general public, whether they are Hindus, Muslims, infiltrators – it will be given to all citizens of Jharkhand, no other factor will be considered.

BJP cornered the party on Congress leader’s promise
On this promise of Congress, BJP got an opportunity to corner the party. The BJP claimed that such remarks were ‘anti-national’ and reflected Congress’s politics of appeasement and polarisation. The comments come at a time when BJP leaders are accusing the JMM-led alliance of patronizing infiltration in the state for ‘vote bank politics’.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, ‘Congress’s Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that he will provide gas cylinders to the infiltrators for Rs 450. It is the Congress-JMM-RJD government which is giving protection to infiltration in Jharkhand. Addressing an election rally at Birni in Giridih district, he alleged that lakhs of infiltrators entered Jharkhand and the government helped them in getting voter and ration cards.
