The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Jharkhand High Court to reconsider the petition of a single guardian woman judicial officer, in which it has challenged the decision to refuse to take a holiday for the child’s care.

A bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Augustine George Christ said that the High Court should consider the judicial officer’s plea, without being impressed by his previous petition being impressed by rejected.

The Jharkhand High Court counsel was ordered to obtain instructions in three days and the bench adjourned the hearing of the case for next week. The bench told the High Court counsel that it would be appropriate to reconsider the issue, as the directions of the apex court can set an example. The apex court on May 29 sought a reply from the Jharkhand Government and the High Court Registry on the plea of a single guardian woman judicial officer, challenging the request to give a holiday to take care of her child.

The court had taken cognizance of the plea of the Judicial Officer of Additional District Judge (ADJ) level belonging to the Scheduled Castes category, alleging that he has been refused to leave six months. The judicial officer sought a holiday between June to December in view of his child’s examination.
