The crime branch of Mangaluru Police has arrested three more absconding accused involved in the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activist Suhas Shetty murder in Bajpe police station area. Officials gave this information on Wednesday.
He said that the accused have been identified as Azruddin alias Azar alias Ajju (29), Abdul Qadir alias Naufal (24) and Vamanjur Naushad alias Chhote Naushad (39), who were arrested during the last two days. With this, 11 accused have been arrested so far in this case.
Two days after the incident, the police arrested eight accused in the case. According to a press release issued by the police, three of the accused Azruddin have been registered in Panambur, Suratkal, Mulki police stations earlier. He had allegedly supported the murder by informing other accused about the activities of Suhas Shetty.
Police said that accused Abdul Qadir had allegedly helped the accused to escape in the car from the opportunity after committing the murder. He said that other accused Naushad is accused of conspiring and involved in the murder with other accused for the murder of Suhas Shetty.
A total of six cases have been registered against him, including Suratkal, Bajpe, Moodbidri, Mangaluru North, Bantwal Police Police Station, murder, attempt to murder, robbery conspiracy.
Azaruddin has been sent to judicial custody, while Qadir and Naushad have been taken into seven days police custody for further investigation. Police said the investigation is going on and efforts are on to locate the other accused involved in the case.
