Srinagar.Two soldiers working with the army and two civilian porters were killed in a terrorist attack near the Line of Control in Gulmarg sector of Kashmir. Three soldiers were also injured in this attack.The terror attack took place hours after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting in Srinagar to review the security situation in the wake of the consecutive attacks last week. Top officials of the army, police, paramilitary and intelligence departments participated in this meeting.
Gulmarg terrorist attack
Two soldiers who were seriously injured in Thursday’s terrorist attack in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, have succumbed to their injuries and with this the number of people who lost their lives in this attack has increased to four. Two porters working with the armed forces were killed on Thursday and four people, including three soldiers, were injured, two of whom later succumbed to their injuries. Officials said on Thursday that terrorists attacked an army vehicle, six kilometers from Gulmarg in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

He said that the terrorists opened fire on the army vehicle in Butapathri area on Thursday evening when it was going towards Nagin post in Afrawat range. While confirming the death of the two porters, officials had said that the condition of two of the injured soldiers was critical. Officials said the soldiers in the vehicle retaliated after the attack. Officials said the area is completely under the control of the army and there were reports in the past that a militant group had infiltrated in the early summer and was hiding in the higher reaches of the Afrawat range. Butapathri area was recently opened for tourists.
The death toll increased to four
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the recent attacks in the valley are a matter of grave concern. “Very unfortunate news of attack on army vehicles in Butapathri area of North Kashmir, resulting in some casualties,” he said in a post on ‘X’. The recent attacks in Kashmir are a matter of grave concern. Abdullah said, “I strongly condemn this attack and express my condolences to the loved ones of those who lost their lives. I also pray that the injured make a full and speedy recovery.” Former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the attack. “Shocked and saddened by the terrorist attack on army convoy in Baramulla,” he posted on X. I unequivocally condemn this and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.” Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit president Ravinder Raina also condemned the attack and urged the Union Territory Blamed Pakistan for trying to destabilize peace and harmony. The attack comes amid increase in terrorist incidents in the valley. In another deadly attack on Sunday, six migrant laborers and a local doctor were killed when terrorists opened fire at a construction site in Gangangir area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Earlier, on October 18, a laborer from Bihar was shot dead by terrorists in Shopian district. Apart from this, terrorists had shot a laborer from Uttar Pradesh in Tral area of Pulwama district, injuring him.
