Khel Ratna And Arjun Award 2024 Winners List Manu Bhaker D Gukesh Harmanpreet Singh President Droupadi Murmu

On Friday, January 17, President Draupadi Murmu honored Indian sports stars with Khel Ratna and Arjuna Awards. At the National Sports Awards ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President honored shooter Manu Bhakar and chess champion D Gukesh with the Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award. Apart from this, Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh and para athlete Praveen Kumar were also honored with the same award for their important contribution in the field of sports.

In this series, the President also honored 32 players with Arjuna Award. President Murmu also honored the winners of Arjuna Award, National Sports Promotion Award, Dronacharya Award and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy. The players who received the Arjun Award also include India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar, who won the gold medal in 50 meter freestyle swimming in the 1972 Paralympics.

Let us tell you that Manu Bhakar had created history in Paris Olympics last year. She won the bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol women’s and 10 meter air pistol mixed team events. She is the first Indian player to win two medals in the same Olympics. Whereas 18-year-old D Gukesh became the youngest world champion by defeating Ding Liren of China last month. He is the second Indian after Vishwanathan Anand to do so.

On the other hand, in the Paris Olympics, under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Singh, the Indian hockey team won the bronze medal for India in the second Olympics back to back. Also, Praveen Kumar had won the gold medal by breaking the Asian record in the men’s high jump-T64 event in Paris Paralympics 2024. Among the 32 players who have been given the Arjuna Award, 17 are para athletes.
