Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar said on Monday that the state has taken a lesson from the recent stampede and is being considered to bring a law for the management of public meetings in future.

After a meeting with Raja Iqbal Singh, the Mayor of Delhi Municipal Corporation, Shivkumar told reporters, “There is a need to learn a lesson from this. We will bring a plan, we have policies to handle the crowd in the future. We have to make a law, we are considering it. This is a lesson we have to learn. ”

Targeting the opposition parties criticizing the Congress -led Karnataka government, Shivkumar said, “They are doing politics on the dead bodies. I am sad for him. ”The first victory of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL final was held on June 4 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium but 11 people died and more than 56 people were injured due to stampede outside the stadium.

Political rhetoric has been going on since the accident and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka has targeted the Congress -led state government for not handling the situation properly.

Opposition parties are demanding the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar on this issue. Shivkumar was in the national capital Delhi to participate in a meeting with MCD officials to discuss urban administration, city planning and solid waste management.
