Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena visited the national capital on Saturday. He shared a video of this period on his social media handle on Sunday. In this video, overflowing sewers, irregular power supply, inadequate water availability and heaps of garbage are shown in various parts of Delhi. Along with this, the Lieutenant Governor appealed to the former Chief Minister, present Chief Minister and concerned ministers of Delhi Government to visit these areas and take immediate steps to improve their condition.

Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has reacted to this video of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. He thanked the Lieutenant Governor for bringing these issues to light and assured that the government will take steps to resolve them.

What did Kejriwal say on Delhi LG’s video?

At a press conference, Kejriwal said, ‘I thank the Lieutenant Governor wholeheartedly for pointing out our shortcomings and we will work to remove those shortcomings. We are constructing roads in those areas where they had earlier described as broken roads. Soon Chief Minister Atishi will inaugurate it. We will also ensure that the place shown by the Lieutenant Governor is cleaned today. I want to tell the LG that if he points out our shortcomings, we will continue to correct them.

What did the LG of Delhi say?

Along with the video, LG of Delhi wrote, ‘The smelly water accumulated on the streets and roads is not from rain, but from overflowing sewers. The women narrating their problems and heart-wrenching sufferings are from Delhi, not from any other state or country. It was extremely disappointing and disturbing to see again yesterday the helplessness and miserable life of millions of people in the capital. The same situation was seen earlier in various areas like Burari, Kirari, Kalandar Colony, Sangam Vihar, Mundka and Gokulpuri.

He further wrote, ‘I have assured the people that the cleanliness drive will start from tomorrow and I will personally monitor the progress of these efforts to ensure that residents get at least the basic amenities for a quality life. I urge the former Chief Minister, present Chief Minister and concerned ministers of Delhi Government to visit these areas and see these hellish conditions for themselves. They should take immediate steps to improve this pathetic situation.
